A crucial meet between representatives of six communities of Assam and officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs was held at the national capital today.
The meet assumes significance since the six communities namely Moran, Motok, koch Rajbongshi, Tai Ahom, Chutia and tea tribes have intensified their demands for granting them Scheduled Tribe status.
Soon after the meeting attended by Union home secretary Rajib Gauba, representatives of the six communities expressed discontentment alleging that the Centre is deliberately delaying the process of granting ST status and fooling the people.
The representatives further alleged that if the Centre finds itself in trouble, it tries to pacify the situation by only going for temporary solution.
