Amidst the ongoing political crisis in Bangladesh, Assam Police apprehended at least 6 Bangladeshi infiltrators who tried to enter India, and pushed then back to their country, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Friday.
He, however, did not mention the sector of the India-Bangladesh border, where they were sent back.
“Assam Police continues its crackdown on infiltration, 6 Bangladeshi nationals apprehended”, Assam CM said in a post on X.
The infiltrators were identified as Md Juman, Md Sahib, Hanupa Begum, Md Kholil, Saiful Rahman and Rocky.
“All of them have been promptly pushed back across the border,” the CM said, lauding the police effort.
The operation was launched based on specific intelligence, reiterating the strict security vigil ensured by the security personnel along the international border.
Earlier, on January 11, as many as four illegal Bangladeshi nationals were apprehended by Assam Police near the international border.
