Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday said the situation along the Assam-Mizoram border is peaceful now and maintained that there is no fresh encroachment from the other side.

Sarma also informed that Assam has got back around 200 hectares of land in the last 3-4 months. Besides, Sarma added that it is important to secure the territory without provoking anybody.
He also ruled out any conflict between both the sides as the security post in the disputed area is now manned by the CRPF, which is the neutral force deployed by the Centre.
The Assam Chief Minister said this after concluding his 2-day visit to the Barak valley.
Meanwhile, the Assam chief minister also said that the government is firm against any terror group. Sarma said that the police is on the job to act against any such activities.
On the other hand, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also sounded caution over COVID-19. Sarma stressed on the fact that vaccination is the key to prevent the third wave.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Sarma also said that the government should not be pressurized to reopen cinema halls and said that it will be opened in a phased manner as and when the pandemic situation normalizes.
The Assam Chief Minister also said that the state government is making sincere efforts to resolve the Hindustan paper corporation issue and is hopeful that it will yield results.
