Sikkim’s Girish and The Chronicles Makes History, Becomes First Indian Rock Band to Feature on America’s Got Talent

This isn’t just a big moment for GATC—it’s a proud chapter in the history of Sikkim’s legacy and Indian rock.

After Assam’s Binita Chettri wowed everyone with her performance on the stage of Britain’s Got Talent, and won the second runners up spot in the global reality talent show, another group of artistes from Northeast, Girish and The Chronicles (GATC), Sikkim’s most iconic rock export, is making history as the first-ever rock band from India to be featured on one of the biggest entertainment platforms in the world – America’s Got Talent (AGT).

Earlier this year, in March 2025, GATC flew to Hollywood, California, USA, for their AGT performance that promises to showcase Sikkim and India’s talented rockers at its finest to a worldwide audience.

This isn’t just a big moment for GATC—it’s a proud chapter in the history of Sikkim’s legacy and Indian rock.

AGT, part of the world-renowned Got Talent franchise created by Simon Cowell, is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. Known for its grand stage and global reach, AGT continues to be the ultimate dream stage for aspiring artists across genres.

This milestone season features a star-studded panel of judges:
• Simon Cowell – the iconic creator and famously sharp-eyed judge
• Howie Mandel – comedian, producer, and beloved TV personality
• Sofía Vergara – award-winning actress, best known for her role as Gloria in Modern Family
• Mel B (Scary Spice) – global pop icon and member of the legendary Spice Girls

The ever-charismatic Terry Crews returns as the host, adding his signature energy to the show.
