Sikkimese supermodel turned actor Manila Pradhan is receiving a lot of appreciation for her role as Angie Gurung in the latest season of City of Dreams. Manila, 26, was the winner of the first edition of MTV Supermodel of the Year. She debuted as an actor with her role in City of Dreams Season 2.

Available on the streaming platform Disney Plus HotStar, City of Dreams is an Indian web series that revolve around the Indian political scenario. The plot is based in Maharashtra and Season 3 is filled with twists, scheming politics, and turbulent relationships. Directed by Nagesh Kukunoor, the series stars Atul Kulkarni, Priya Bapat, Sachin Pilgaonkar, Eijaz Khan, Siddharth Chandekar, and Adinath Kothare.

Manila expressed her gratitude towards director Nagesh Kukunoor for caring for her like a godfather in the initial stages of her acting career. Manila’s character in the series, “Angie Gurung”, is based on a Sikkimese girl who reaches Mumbai to pursue her dreams. Manila says that the character resonates with an ideal Sikkimese girl for being peaceful, and innocent but also adamant and straightforward.
“Since Covid happened, it took me a long time, but getting to work with professionals from the industry, it was worth the wait. Professionally and personally, I am glad I have created a healthy bond with everyone who is a part of the City of Dreams”, Manila said.

Manila Pradhan was born into a middle-class family in Namchi, South Sikkim, and developed a great interest in acting and modelling from a very young age. She did her graduation in Pharmacy. After completing her graduation, Manila did a course in acting and theatre from Mumbai.
In 2019, Manila auditioned for the modelling reality show “MTV Supermodel of the Year” and got selected. On March 15, she won the “MTV Supermodel of the Year” title defeating Drisha More and Priya Singh. Manila loves to gorge on burgers, Pizza, and chicken wings. She loves travelling and shopping.
