Sikkim University students protest suspension of 2 students

Sikkim University students led by Sikkim University Students’ Association (SUSA) today staged another pen-down protest outside Sikkim University administrative block following the suspension of two students– Akhand Pratap Singh, Department of Hindi and Debraj Chettri, general secretary of SUSA, Department of Political Science on terms of misconduct.

SUSA demanded that the two students’ suspensions be immediately lifted.

In a meeting earlier yesterday, SUSA adopted a resolution and gave the university administration until 10:45 AM on May 17 to comply to the students’ demands and said that failure to do so would lead the students to boycott classes and engage in a silent protest.

It may be mentioned that the duo has been suspended until further notice for their alleged misconduct and inappropriate behaviour during the May 10 protest against the alleged failure of the authorities of the institute to re-open the centralised and subsidised canteen by May 8, installation of a sanitary napkin vending machine as well as other issues related to the students.
