In a shocking revelation, a patient at STNM Hospital in Sikkim underwent a major surgery on October 8, 2024, to remove a surgical scissor that had been left inside her abdomen for over a decade following an appendix operation in 2012. The woman’s husband reported that her wife had undergone surgery for an appendix at the old STNM hospital in the year 2012. Following the procedure, she began experiencing persistent and severe abdominal pain, which prompted further medical investigation. However, it wasn’t until October 8, 2024, that doctors discovered surgical scissor lodged in her stomach. The presence of the surgical scissor remained undetected for more than a decade, raising serious concerns about medical negligence, patient safety, and hospital protocols.
