Sikkim reported the second death due to COVID-19 on Tuesday. The first death due to the infection had occurred on 26th July.
The deceased was a 45-year-old resident of IBM, Rangpo originally from Bihar, working at a pharmaceutical company in East Sikkim.
As per reports, the patient had complained of breathing difficulty and was brought to STNM hospital but died enroute.
Meanwhile, three doctors and nurses who were exposed to the deceased have been home-quarantined and the emergency ward at STNM Hospital has been contained for 72 hours. The hospital’s emergency service has been shifted to the out-patient department for the containment period.
With 20 new cases reported on Tuesday, the state’s overall tally reached 1,207. The active cases stands at 450, while 755 patients have been discharged after recovery.
The review meeting was attended by Chief Ministers of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Tripura.
