Sikkim pre-poll violence: Miscreants vandalise SDF candidate Tenzing Norbu Lamtha’s vehicle

With just a few days left for the simultaneous Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in the Northeastern state of Sikkim, the incidents of pre-poll violence have been escalating from the different parts of the state.

In a fresh such incident of poll related violence, miscreants vandalized a vehicle registered to Sikkim Democratic Front’s (SDF) Syari Constituency candidate Tenzing Norbu Lamtha last evening and injured a party worker.
As per sources the vehicle was being used by SDF party workers in Syari and was allegedly vandalized by miscreants associated with the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM).

It may be mentioned here that the former SKM panchayat cell vice president (in-charge) Tenzing Norbu Lamtha, recently quit from his party and joined the SDF in the presence of SDF president Pawan Chamling at the SDF head-office and thereafter was announced as the SDF candidate for Syari constituency.

Earlier on Sunday night, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang led Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM’s) Geyzing-Bermoik candidate, Loknath Sharma’s residence was allegedly vandalized last night.

Loknath Sharma has alleged that the vandalism was allegedly carried out by supporters of independent candidate Khusendra Sharma.

Voting for the 32-member Sikkim Assembly and the lone Lok Sabha seat in the state will be held on April 19 and counting will take place on June 2.
