Sikkim: NIT marks three years of implementing National Education Policy 2020

In celebration of the third anniversary of NEP, 2020, NIT, Sikkim will showcase achievements in New Delhi on July 29 and 30
The Nation Institute of Technology (NIT), Ravangla, celebrated the completion of three years of successful implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP, 2020) today. The event was attended by members of the institute’s faculty, including Director Prof. Mahesh Chandra Govil, Registrar Dr. Ranjan Basak, and other dignitaries.
Addressing the press conference, Director Prof. Mahesh Chandra Govil proudly stated that NIT, Sikkim has wholeheartedly embraced and effectively implemented the NEP, 2020 over the past three years. He highlighted the institute’s dedication to revising the curriculum and syllabus of all undergraduate and postgraduate programs in alignment with the NEP, 2020.
Prof. Govil further detailed the various initiatives undertaken by NIT, Sikkim, by the NEP, 2020. The institute has introduced multi-disciplinary learning opportunities, encouraged community-oriented projects, embraced digital transformation, fostered multilingualism, and promoted cultural awareness and inclusivity.
NIT, Sikkim has prioritized skill development and delved into emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and quantum computing.
The NEP, 2020 emphasizes the strengthening of the higher education sector, with a focus on research and innovation. Prof. Govil highlighted that NIT Sikkim has made substantial strides in this direction by forging valuable partnerships. The institute has signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with esteemed academic institutions and industries, including IIT Delhi, IIT Roorkee, IIT Gandhinagar, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, MNIT Jaipur, University of Delhi, DRDO, NHIDCL, and TCG Life Sciences. These collaborations have facilitated academic and research initiatives in areas of mutual interest. The institute is committed to exploring further MoUs with national and international institutions in the coming phases.
Commending the NEP, 2020 for laying a strong foundation for progressive education, Prof. Govil expressed NIT, Sikkim’s unwavering dedication to building upon its success.
In celebration of the third anniversary of NEP, 2020, NIT, Sikkim will showcase its remarkable achievements during a prestigious event in New Delhi on July 29 and 30.
