The Tourism Department of Sikkim will target monsoon as a new tourist season for Sikkim, informed Sikkim Tourism Development Corporation (STDC)Chairman, Lukendra Rasaily on National Tourism Day.
Talking to reporters at Gangtok today, Lukendra Rasaily said that the Covid19 has hit the tourism industry very badly, and now it’s time to look for a new direction to strengthen the tourism in Sikkim. He also added that if the Covid19 situation remains normal within February, then March to June will be the bumper months for tourism stakeholders of Sikkim.
Furthermore, Rasaily said that the impression of Sikkim during Monson season till date is not good for tourists to visit, but now Tourism Department is planning to build monsoon season as a new tourist season in Sikkim to make up for the losses incurred due to Covid19 in the last 3 years.
National Tourism Day is celebrated across the country on January 25 every year to appreciate India’s beauty and spread awareness about the importance of tourism and its impact on the economy but due to Covid19, Sikkim didn’t celebrate this year.
