Sikkim’s Roads and Bridges Minister, NB Dahal, has urged the West Bengal Government to prioritise the maintenance of National Highway 10, a crucial route connecting Sikkim.
Addressing concerns about regional infrastructure, Dahal said the State Government is not worried about Sikkim’s roads but there are issues with NH10.
Dahal further extended gratitude to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her immediate response regarding NH10’s condition and emphasised the need for immediate action.
Speaking exclusively to Northeast Live, Minister Dahal said that the meeting between Chief Minister PS Tamang and the Border Roads Organisation yielded positive outcomes and a joint team is currently conducting an inspection in North Sikkim.
Minister Dahal also expressed optimism that key areas like Lachung and Lachen will be accessible ahead of Defence Minister Raj Nath Singh’s visit to Sikkim, scheduled for October 11.
Earlier on 30 September, Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay chaired a high-level meeting with the Border Roads Organization (BRO) today at Mintokgang. The meeting focused on strengthening infrastructure and enhancing cooperation between the state and BRO to boost Sikkim’s development and national security.
Present at the meeting were NB Dahal, Minister for Roads and Bridges, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister SD Dhakal, and senior officials from the Roads and Bridges Department. Representing BRO were Lt General Raghu Srinivasan, Director General of Border Roads, and Brig Manoj Gupta, Chief Engineer of Project Swastik.
