Sikkim Launches Thrilling Bungee Jumping Experience at Asia’s Second-Highest Bridge

In a historic development for Sikkim’s tourism sector, the state’s first-ever bungee jumping facility was officially inaugurated today at Singshore Bridge, Uttarey. Standing over 100 meters high and 240 meters long, Singshore Bridge is Sikkim’s highest bridge and the second-highest in Asia. It is also being developed into a stunning glass-deck skywalk, further boosting its appeal as a prime adventure tourism destination.

The event was flagged off by local MLA and Advisor to the Tourism and Civil Aviation Department, Sudesh Kumar Subba, marking the beginning of the Sikkim Rural Tourism Meet 2025 under the Sikkim INSPIRES initiative. The launch featured three successful jumps, marking the start of an exhilarating new adventure experience in the state.

Speaking at the press briefing, Sudesh Kumar Subba emphasised that this initiative aligns with the government’s vision for adventure tourism while creating new employment opportunities for locals. He highlighted that the facility would not only diversify Sikkim’s tourism offerings but also significantly contribute to the local economy by generating jobs and encouraging community participation.

The newly launched bungee jumping facility meets world-class safety standards, with internationally certified equipment and trained professionals ensuring a secure and thrilling experience for all participants. Subba also announced that, after a training period, local youth would take over operations, making the activity accessible to all adventure enthusiasts.

With its breathtaking Himalayan backdrop, Singshore Bridge is set to become a premier adventure tourism hotspot, attracting thrill-seekers from across India and beyond.
