Reported by Prakash Adhikari

After the devastating situation in Sikkim, especially in North and South Sikkim, caused by a cloud burst over Lhonak Lake in North Sikkim leading to a flash flood in the Teesta River in Lachen Valley on October 3, there’s some positive news.

The popular tourist spots of Lachung-Yumthang are set to reopen for tourists from December 1.

To ensure the safety of tourists, a convoy system will be in place for tourist vehicles travelling on the Sankalang-Toong-Chunthang road.

However, after 4 pm, no tourist vehicles will be allowed on this route.

It is to mention that the Trishakti Corps of the Indian Army, in collaboration with the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), has completed the construction of a 100-foot Bailey Bridge over Zeema Chu.

The completion of this vital bridge reconnects the previously cut-off Northern side of Lachen.
