In a sudden outbreak of COVID-19 cases in Sikkim, 13 inmates of the District Jail in Namchi have tested positive for the highly contagious virus on Friday.

This happens to be the second COVID spike at the jail in a gap of just one week.

Earlier this week, 60 inmates of the Namchi Jail tested positive for COVID-19 along with five jail officials.

As per latest reports South Sikkim, East Sikkim reported 5 cases and West Sikkim reported 3 covid cases in the last 24 hours taking the fresh covid tally of the state to 21 cases.

However, no deaths have been reported during the past week.
