Sikkim Elections: Say goodbye to regional parties, BJP national president JP Nadda tells voters

BJP national president JP Nadda made a clarion call to the people of Sikkim to reject the regional parties in the state in the ensuing Assembly elections as well as election for the lone Lok Sabha seat in the state.

Releasing the party manifesto for the elections, Nadda said waving goodbye to these regional parties will also ensure that there is no corruption thereafter.

Worth mentioning that the Saffron party had severed ties with the ruling SKM alleging that the Prem Singh Tamang government was involved in massive corruption.

The state leadership had maintained that they had been raising the issue with the central leadership before finally the party snapped ties with the SKM this March.

Nadda said that it is high time that people shift their attention towards a mainstream force, the best option according to the BJP national president, is his party.

In his address to the people of Sikkim after launching the manifesto, Nadda said, “I want to request You all that enough is enough, You have to come to the mainstream, and the mainstream is the BJP and the leadership of Narendra Modi. Regional parties are enough, you (to people and BJP workers) want mainstream party or not, Everyone has to pay attention to the mainstream party, so tell them goodbye and also say goodbye to corruption. We will provide you clean, people oriented full of progress, full of peace, full of infrastructure, full development, and mainstreaming of Sikkim. That is what I promise on behalf of the BJP. So gone are those days, tell them (regional parties) goodbye. They buyed and sold this that, done corruption, so tell them goodbye. And let Lotus blossom, we have to work for that.”

Some of the key highlights of the BJP manifesto which JP Nadda during his speech are, “In this manifesto first we have said that we will safeguard the essence, substance and the spirit of Article 371 (F).

We will in collaboration with the central government, we will set up an Indian Institute of Management (IIM) of world class in Sikkim.

We will establish National Institute of Design for the development and vocational education in Sikkim.
Similarly to provide more potential to the youths and boost tourism we will establish an Institute of Hotel Management.

Under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi the yearly allowance will be increased to Rs 9000 from Rs 6000.
Similarly for Agricultural Infrastructure Mission we will create a corpus of Rs 500 crore and we will revamp agriculture infrastructure.

The Centre will also establish a Regional Institute of Medical Science here.”

JP Nadda further said that there will be a sea change in the Himalayan state, if people vote BJP to power.

“There should not be any confusion. With this manifesto the BJP wants to assure you that if you bring BJP to power than you will have villages which are the most modern, full facilities, if you elect BJP, you will have empowered women, if you elect BJP you will find youth full of aspirations whose aspirations are being fulfilled. If you bring BJP to power, you will find farmers being mainstreamed, if you bring BJP tourism will flourish. If you elect BJP, you will find organic farming, this will become an export for the entire world, that we have to understand. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sikkim is going to see a sea change. So, do you want that sea change? If you want so than vote for the BJP,” Nadda said.

On March 24, speaking to Northeast Live, Sikkim BJP president DR Thapa had reaffirmed the party’s decision to end its alliance with the SKM.

Thapa said BJP will not enter into a post-poll alliance and will be strongly fighting against corruption once elected to power.

Emphasizing the party’s dedication to transparency and progress, Thapa highlighted the dissolution of the alliance as a strategic move to better serve the interests of the people of Sikkim.

He expressed gratitude for the support received from party members and leaders in Delhi, who have committed full backing for the upcoming elections.

Thapa assured that the BJP is prepared to contest the elections and introduce positive change for the state.
