Sikkim CM PS Tamang invites Dalai Lama to visit the state in October

CM Tamang met His Holiness today, September 21, which is celebrated as the International Day of Peace.

Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang along with Cabinet Minister Sonam Lama and senior government officials, visited His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama at his home in Dharamshala today.

They sought blessings from him and invited him to visit Sikkim in October.

Chief Minister thanked His Holiness for accepting the invitation and making the people of Sikkim very happy. He also shared the government’s efforts to promote peace and harmony in the state.

“His Holiness XIVth Dalai Lama happily accepted the invitation and talked about his fond memories of Sikkim and his good relationship with its people. He stressed the importance of using logic and reasoning to promote Buddhism, especially its connection with mental health and peace,” an official release said.

The meeting took place on September 21, which is celebrated as the International Day of Peace.

Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang was accompanied by Minister Sonam Lama, Chief Secretary VB Pathak, Chairman Reform Commission T. Gelek (Rinpoche), Resident Commissioner AK Chand, CMO Secretary SD Dhakal, Secretary Ecclesiastical Department Dr Passang D. Phempu, Chairman of Sikkim Urja Ltd. Sunil Saraogi, and other officials.
