Sikkim CM Prem Singh Tamang calls on Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, Discusses Issues Pertaining to Growth of Northeast

Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang today called on Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma at Lok Sewa Bhawan in Dispur.

During the meeting, both the Chief Ministers held discussions which focused on the development and progress of the northeastern region.

One of the key topics of discussion was the possibility of launching a helicopter service between Gangtok and Guwahati. This service would greatly enhance accessibility for the people of both states and contribute significantly to regional growth.

During the meeting, CM Sarma also highlighted Assam’s advanced healthcare facilities, particularly those specializing in cancer treatment. He expressed willingness to extend support to patients from Sikkim who seek medical care in Assam, a gesture that underscores the close ties and cooperative spirit between the two states.

CM Sarma also accepted an invitation of the Sikkim Chief Minister to visit Sikkim.

Taking to X, CM Sarma congratulated Sikkim CM his second consecutive victory in the recent Assembly elections. “Wonderful to meet the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim Shri @PSTamangGolay ji. I congratulated him on his second consecutive victory in the recent Assembly elections. I am also thankful for the artwork and gifts he gave me, taking my mind back to my earlier visits to Sikkim”, Assam CM Tweeted.

Both leaders expressed their commitment to further strengthening the bonds between Sikkim and Assam through collaborative efforts aimed at regional development and public welfare.
