Sikkim CM Holds High-Level Meeting With BRO to Strengthen Infrastructure In The State

Amid crumbling roads and highways, Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay chaired a high-level meeting with the Border Roads Organization (BRO) today at Mintokgang. The meeting focused on strengthening infrastructure and enhancing cooperation between the state and BRO to boost Sikkim’s development and national security.
Present at the meeting were NB Dahal, Minister for Roads and Bridges, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister SD Dhakal, and senior officials from the Roads and Bridges Department. Representing BRO were Lt General Raghu Srinivasan, Director General of Border Roads, and Brig Manoj Gupta, Chief Engineer of Project Swastik.
The discussion centered around addressing critical and strategic issues, particularly the need for sustainable solutions for landslide-prone areas, with a specific focus on North Sikkim. The meeting resolved to conduct joint inspections of these vulnerable areas to ensure a thorough assessment and swift action.
The Chief Minister urged officials to accelerate the inspection and expedite the restoration of damaged roads across the state. He expressed concern over the urgency of addressing the road damage and stressed the importance of prompt recovery efforts.
Tamang-Golay thanked the Director General and Chief Engineer of BRO for their participation and valuable suggestions, which contributed to the success of the discussions.
