In light of National Highway 10 being shut again in Sikkim due to heavy rainfall, state’s Chief Secretary, V.B. Pathak, convened a high-level meeting today at the Tashiling Secretariat.

The meeting will be attended by key representatives from the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), the Roads & Bridges Department of the Government of Sikkim, and all heads of the district administration.

The agenda focuses on the urgent reopening of the North Sikkim Highway and the ongoing issues with NH-10, which has faced multiple disruptions due to landslides. Just this morning, NH-10 was once again shut at 28 and 29 Mile and Melli, following heavy rainfall. Additionally, the Gangtok-Mangan route was blocked after the collapse of the Rang-Rang Bridge.

The situation has highlighted the critical need for effective solutions to enhance Sikkim’s road infrastructure.

This meeting aims to develop strategies to restore and maintain smoother connectivity throughout Sikkim, ensuring safety and accessibility for residents and travelers alike.
