To commemorate the 154th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Sikkim Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya and Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang paid their respects to the Father of the Nation by offering floral tribute to the bust of Mahatma Gandhi at M.G. Marg, today. Cabinet Ministers, MLAs, other dignitaries, Chief Secretary, DGP, and heads of departments also offered floral tribute to the Father of The Nation. On the occasion, awards were presented to the cleanest Urban Local Bodies in the State with Mangan Nagar Panchayat being recognised as the first cleanest ULB, Rangpo Nagar Panchayat as the second and Singtam Nagar Panchayat as the third cleanest ULB. In recognition of their exemplary efforts, cash award of Rs. 10 lakh, Rs. 7 lakh and Rs. 5 lakh were presented to the three ULBs bagging the first, second and third ranks, respectively.
