The Citizen Action Party on Thursday submitted a memorandum to Additional Chief Secretary (Education) R Telang, opposing the recent mass transfer of teachers across the state.
Led by the party’s chief coordinator, Ganesh Rai, along the CAP team voiced concerns over the abrupt mid-session transfers, which they claimed disrupted students’ education.
The party alleged that the transfers were politically motivated, targeting teachers whose family members supported opposition parties.
CAP further accused the Education Department of disregarding policies in these transfers, labeling the action as political victimization.
While speaking to media, Rai said, “It’s already the middle of the school session to the end, and now to transfer teachers will impact students studies. I requested Additional Chief Secretary (Education) to revoke the teacher transfer immediately.”
The party also urged state government to prioritize the formulation of a comprehensive teacher transfer policy to ensure the smooth functioning of the education system and the welfare of both teachers and students.
Adding to the controversy, the CAP highlighted a particularly shocking incident where a teacher, who had passed away just days prior, was transferred to Sadam Senior Secondary School.
Ganesh Rai criticized the Education Department, accusing it of being run politically, rather than systematically.
