Sikkim Asst Professors Apologise to CM Tamang After Govt Says Job Regularisation After 8 Years Not 4

The apology letter addresses issues and misunderstandings related to the recent Regularization Policy and notifications issued by the Department of Personnel
Assistant Professors of government colleges in Sikkim and the Sikkim Probationary Assistant Professors Welfare Society have issued a formal apology to Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang soon after the Sikkim government announced its decision to regularise jobs of Assistant Professors after 8 years instead of the earlier rule of 4 years plus a year of probation.
Some of the Assistant Professors had earlier demanded the state government remove the one-year probation period required after 4 years of service before regularising their jobs.
Reacting to this, CM Tamang had said yesterday that the government has been regularizing their positions after completion of 4 years of service even though many candidates failed to meet all the requirements. Yet they are now requesting that the probationary term be removed. What makes them so ungrateful of the government? questioned CM Tamang and announced the government decision to revise the regularisation policy for assistant professors.
In the letter, the Assistant Professors congratulated Chief Minister Tamang on his successful re-election and expressed gratitude for the policy of regularising the positions of all Probationary Assistant Professors.
The academicians acknowledged that their actions during the probationary period, including communication through WhatsApp and applications sent to the Chief Minister’s office, may have caused unintended offence.
They expressed regret for any disruption or misunderstanding caused by these actions.
The letter added, “Our intentions were never to offend your kind self,” emphasising their desire to clear doubts regarding the notifications.
The Assistant Professors expressed deep regret for any disappointment caused. They affirmed their appreciation and acceptance of the policy decisions taken under the Chief Minister’s leadership.
The letter concluded, requesting the Chief Minister to reconsider his decision concerning the recent Regularization Policy and retain the regularised orders issued earlier this year.
The educators pledged their commitment to serving the state to the best of their abilities. They placed their trust in the Chief Minister’s leadership and dedication to the welfare of Sikkim and its people.
