Three leaders of BJP Sikkim-Ugen Nedup Bhutia, Janak Gurung, and Sonam Gyatso Sherpa have resigned, barely 5 months after joining the party before the Sikkim Assembly Election.
The trio cited “personal considerations” as the reason for their decision to step aside at this juncture.
After joining the BJP, Ugen Nedup Bhutia contested from the Kabi Lungchok constituency but lost to SKM candidate T T Bhutia.
Janak Gurung contested from Namthang Rateypani constituency but lost to SKM’s Sanjit Kharel.
Sonam Gyatso Sherpa served as the Convenor of the BJP Intellectual Cell.
In the recently concluded Assembly elections in Sikkim, BJP contested in 31 seats but failed to win a single one.
