Some patients even allege that the only services provided are a free bed and saline bottles, with basic medicines having to be purchased out-of-pocket.
Despite the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council’s focus on improving the healthcare sector in Dima Hasao, the Maibang Community Health Centre is grappling with a severe shortage of essential medicines.
Patients have voiced their frustration, complaining that free medicines are rarely available. Many are forced to spend between Rs. 1,000 and Rs. 3,000 at pharmacies for necessary medications.
Some patients even allege that the only services provided are a free bed and saline bottles, with basic medicines having to be purchased out-of-pocket.
In response to these concerns, the Council had earlier inspected medical sub-centres across the district to assess the ground reality of the healthcare system.
Deputy Superintendent of the CHC, Dr. Deka, assured the public that efforts are being made to ensure medicines will be available soon.
