Speaking to Northeast Live, East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, Davis Marak confirmed that preliminary investigation revealed that the crowd was deliberately brought to the city to cause trouble.
Significantly, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma had earlier said that the crowd was funded to stir trouble and that stern action will be taken against those responsible.
Talking about the present situation the SP said that the situation is more or less normal while stating that tight vigil is in place to check anti-social elements.
He further said that the police are also keeping track of happenings in other districts as well which may in some way have an impact on the situation in Shillong. Though everything is under control curfew is still on.
