Meghalaya capital city Shillong has been chosen as the 100th smart city.

As the Smart Cities Mission enters its fourth year, Shillong is not only the 100th but also the last city to be a part of the project. As of now 99 smart cities had been announced in four rounds of competition.

With the selection of Shillong, the total proposed investment for 100 selected cities under the Smart Cities Mission would be Rs 2 lakh 5 thousand and 18 crores.

Earlier this year in the month of January, Arunachal Pradesh’s capital Itanagar also made it to the list of Smart cities. Apart from Itanagar and Shillong, Guwahati, Pasighat, Aizawl, Gangtok, Namchi, Kohima and Agartala’s names are already in the list.
