Shillong IED Blast: 4 sympathizers of HNLC rebel outfit arrested

Four persons have been arrested for their direct involvement in connection with the Shillong IED blast on January 30. This has been confirmed by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma today.

Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said that all four arrested individuals were directly involved in the terror attack.

Among those arrested include people who had provided raw materials to make the bomb.

Chief Minister Sangma said that further investigation into the matter is underway and efforts are on to ascertain if any other individuals are involved in the planned terror attack.

Reportedly all those arrested are sympathizers of the proscribed Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) rebel outfit, the Chief Minister confirmed.

Chief Minister Conrad Sangma further reiterated that those involved in the blast will not be spared.

It may be mentioned that the blast occurred outside Delhi Mistan Bhandar in Shillong’s commercial hub Police Bazar on January 30.

Though no one was injured in the incident, the explosion has led to a fear psychosis of sorts and apprehensions among sections of the general public.

Later on January 31, the proscribed HNLC claimed responsibility for the explosion in the city’s commercial hub Police Bazaar.
