Sensational allegations of sexual abuse have been levelled against top Assam BJP leader and Union Minister of State for Railways, Rajen Gohain.
A woman in Nagaon, Gohain’s home constituency, has accused the minister of sexually abusing her.
According to reports, a case was registered against Gohain under sections 471, 376 and 506 at the Nagaon Sadar PS on August 2.
Sources have told Northeast Live that Rajen Gohain’s family has also filed a counter FIR with the Nagaon police against the woman who has reportedly gone underground.
The police are said to be quietly inquiring into the allegations, however, according to sources the woman had approached the police expressing her desire not to proceed with the case.
Meanwhile, the Nagaon Police has said that investigation is on into the case. Addressing media persons, Nagaon SP said medical examination of the woman has been conducted.
