A veteran politician of Sikkim, Biraj Adhikari, who held the position of General Secretary of Hamro Sikkim Party (HSP) has resigned from the party today.
In his resignation letter to party president Bhaichung Bhutia, he wrote, “As you know, I have been battling against cancer for the last 10 months, and as now the party is being disbanded, I would like to resign from the party for the following reasons.
I want to concentrate on my health as my doctors say that I might be free of the disease in another two years.
As I am general secretary of the party right now, I feel that I have blocked a high rank without being able to give much time due to my health.
Therefore, I would request you to kindly accept my resignation from the post, as well as the party, at the earliest.”
