Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma today made a big revelation as far as the security situation in Guwahati is concerned.

Briefing mediapersons, Sarma said that certain elements have entered the Gateway of Northeast to target senior citizens. However, the police are on a Mission Mode to eliminate such elements, Sarma added.

Remote camera and human intelligence are the key aspects to make Guwahati safe, Sarma said. Reaffirming the government’s stand, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the crime rate in Guwahati has dropped by 39% in the last 3 months as compared to 2021. The Assam Chief Minister’s statement comes at a time when two senior citizens have been found murdered in last two days.

Besides this, the Assam Chief Minister also said that cops have to deliver optimum performance despite all odds. According to Chief Minister Sarma security forces must not be in comfort zone.

CM Himanta Biswa Sarma’s statement assumes significance as another person was found murdered in Guwahati’s Bamunimaidan area. This is the second case of murder that has come to light from the city within 24 hours. Body of railway department employee Kajal Chandra Das was found with his head severed. The deceased’s son informed that he had made last contact with Kajal Das on Sunday. Subsequent to this, kin of Kajal Chandra Das was unable to establish contact with him.

The locals suspect that unscrupulous elements might be behind the murder of Kajal Chandra Das.
