Senior Delhi-based journalist from Assam, Nilakshi Bhattacharya succumbed to COVID-19 on Friday.
Bhattacharya was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Delhi after being infected by Coronavirus. The senior journalist finally breathed her last this morning.
Nilakshi Bhattacharya was associated with the Times Of India Group.
Her husband Kalyan Barua is also reportedly undergoing treatment after suffering from Covid and is said to be critically ill.
Meanhwile, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal took to Twitter to express his grief over the untimely demise of the senior woman journalist.
“Deepest condolences on the untimely demise of Nilakshi Bhattacharyya, a senior journalist of TOI, New Delhi, due to #COVID19. My prayers for peace of the departed soul,” Sonowal tweeted.
