Given the fact that most north-eastern states are located along the international borders, Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju today said that greater coordination between the state police, central armed forces and investigative agencies is imperative to ensure better law and order situation in the region.
He further said that the security situation in the region has improved significantly in the last 4 years with incidents of violence and insurgency related incidents coming down by 50 percent.
Addressing the 25th conference of DGPs, IGPs and head of CPOs at the Dorjee Khandu Convention Centre in Itanagar, Rijiju emphasized that one has to understand the unique policies of the Northeastern states as it shares 98% of its border with the neighbouring countries.
