Security forces arrested at least three suspected active members of proscribed KCP (Noyon) from different places.
The arrested members were identified as Md Imtiyaz Khan, alias Angouba (21), from Kairang Mayai Leikai, Imphal East, Thokchorn Romeshchandra Singh, alias Ayangba (33) from Phubala Awang Leikai and Md Salim (30) from Kairang Mamang Leikai in Imphal East District.
As per inputs, the arrest was made in connection with their involvement in extortion activities targeting various establishments, shops, pharmacies, godowns, Oil pumps, etc.
A case has been registered at Heingang Police Station for thorough investigation and the identification of their associates.
Taking to X, Chief Minister N Biren Singh wrote, “A combined team of security forces arrested Md. Imtiyaz Khan, an active member of the outfit KCP (Noyon), along with his associates Thokchom Romeshchandra Singh and Md. Salim. The arrest was made in connection with their involvement in extortion activities targeting various establishments, shops, pharmacies, godowns, Oil pumps, etc.”
“These individuals are associated with the outfit KCP (Noyon), and Th. Romeshchandra, the key figure, has been active since 2007, holding the rank of S/s – Sergeant. Well done @manipur_police team”, CM added.
Meanwhile, a joint security team also arrested a proscribed member of proscribed Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF) / People’s Liberation Army (PLA) namely Aheibam Amorjit Singh (50), from Kongba Kshetri Leikai during mobile frisking and checking at Mantripukhri Bazar, Imphal East on Friday.
He was reportedly involved in extorting money from three-wheelers plying along NH-2, it said.
A case has been registered for further investigation.
