Security beefed up across state ahead of final NRC draft release

Guwahati Commissioner of Police Hiren Nath said that police and paramilitary forces will be deployed in the city during the publication of the complete draft NRC to avert any untoward incidents.
The senior police official said that there are at least 22-25 NRC Seva Kendras which have been identified as sensitive and that special plans have been chalked out to ensure smooth publication of the draft citizens register.
Besides Guwahati Police Commissioner Hiren Nath said that security forces have been issued necessary directives to maintain strict vigil during the process. Apart from this the police is also sensitizing the common people.
Meanwhile, Kamrup (Metro) DC, Virendra Mittal appealed the people to not panic in case their names do not appear in the complete draft NRC.
He said that there might be some people whose names may not appear in the list but they need not worry as they can approach their respective NSK’s to enquire starting from August 7th up to August 30.
