Scary numbers: Over 4.54 lakh Assam women living with breast cancer: Experts

Clouded by social stigma and general lack of awareness, the number of patients battling breast cancer in Assam has reached an alarming rate.

Leading oncologists from the region informed that in every 1 lakh women, 100 are detected with breast cancer. Every 15 minutes a woman is detected with breast cancer and every 15 minutes one dies of the tumour. As per experts, over 4 lakh 54 thousand women in Assam are living with breast cancer.
