Retd engineer’s murder case: 2 more accused surrender

Two more accused have surrendered before the police in connection with the recent murder of Javed Ali Ahmed, a retired Additional Chief Engineer of the Irrigation Department, Government of Assam in Guwahati’s Hatigaon area.
The two accused who surrendered before the police yesterday have been identified as–Sahidul Islam and Bulbu.
With this, the number of arrested people has gone up to 6.
In August last year, Ainal Hoque, Nur Mahmad, Mahibul Khan and Hasmat Miya were arrested in connection with the case.
Javed Ali Ahmed was found dead with severe head injuries on Friends Path in Hatigaon Jamma Masjid on July 27, 2023.
Ahmed who was also the president of the Friends’ Path Masjid Committee was hit with an iron rod.
According to reports, a dispute over a plot of land owned by Javed Ali Ahmed in Barpeta led to the incident. However, further probe is underway to ascertain the facts.
