The Border Security Force has stepped up efforts to prevent and foil any attempt to disrupt the Republic Day celebrations in Tripura. The BSF is maintaining an extra vigil as day-night security has been beefed up across the state’s 856 km border with Bangladesh.

The BSF has intensified checking and a dog squad has been called in. Apart from that, public and vehicle checking is going on as patrolling on the border has also been increased and the international border has been sealed.

The Indo-Bangla border has been a hotbed for smuggling and illegal activity for quite some time. Insurgent outfits operating in Tripura & utllising Bangladeshi territory as shelter use the apparently porous border sneak in and out.
