Congress on Saturday promised to rename the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera area of Ahmedabad to Sardar Patel Stadium if voted to power in upcoming elections in Gujarat.
Senior Congress leader and Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot announced the party’s election manifesto for the upcoming legislative elections yesterday.
Releasing the party’s manifesto Gehlot said that if the party forms the government, Congress will adopt the election manifesto as the official document at the first Cabinet meeting.
The party manifesto says that the government would open 3,000 English-medium schools and offer free education to girls in the state up till their post-graduation.

In its poll manifesto, Congress also said that it will provide 50% reservation for women in government jobs and pay a monthly grant of 2,000 to every single woman, widow, and senior woman in the state in addition to its promise to create 10 lakh jobs in the state for all Gujaratis.
Congress has promised to offer free medical care to all Gujaratis up to a maximum of 10 lakhs, free health checks and medications up to a maximum of 5 lakhs, and to provide 4 lakh in COVID compensation throughout the state.
Other benefits mentioned in the Congress manifesto include LPG cylinders for 500 rupees, a monthly stipend of 3,000 rupees to each unemployed youth, a waiver of farm loans up to 3 lakhs, and 300 units of free electricity.
Mr Gehlot further stated that if Congress is voted to power, investigations into all allegations of corruption from the past 27 years will be ordered, and anyone found guilty will be booked.
Elections to the 182-member Assembly in Gujarat will be held in two phases, on December 1 and 5.
The counting of votes will be held on December 8, 2022.
Congress has so far announced candidates for 68 of 89 seats for the first phase.
