Pround moment from Assam. Rajni Basnet Kalita of Guwahati has created history in sports by becoming the first person from the state to officiate as a match referee at an International cricket match.
Thursday, she took charge as the match referee in the first one day international match between India Women and Australia Women at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

This achievement follows her earlier role as one of the match referees during the inaugural Women’s Premier League held in Mumbai.
Her accomplishments in the Women’s Premier League and now on the international stage underscores how necessary it is to nurture talent in cricket officiation.
Rajni Basnet Kalita hails from Guwahati’s Boragaon.
It may be mentioned here that Kalita’s husband, Mukul Kalita is also associated with the cricketing world, who is a Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) qualified pitch curater.
