Defence Min Rajnath Singh inaugurates Thangu bridge in North Sikkim

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh virtually inaugurated the Thangu bridge in North Sikkim today.
The Defence Minister inaugurated the 80-foot-long Thangu bridge virtually from the strategic Siyom Bridge site at Boleng in Arunachal Pradesh which was also inaugurated today by the Minister.
The Thangu Bridge, an 80-foot-long permanent bridge, was built on the vital Kalep-Gaigong Road in north Sikkim by BRO India to ensure commuters’ access in all weather conditions.
It will also help in the military’s deployment of personnel and equipment in forward areas.
Besides Thangu bridge and Siyom Bridge, Minister Singh also inaugurated 26 other infrastructure projects constructed by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) across the Northeast.
The 28 projects were completed at a cost of 724.3 crores to make it easier for the Indian armed forces to move quickly through sensitive border areas.
With the inauguration of these 28 projects, which were completed in 2022, a total of 103 infrastructure projects of BRO were dedicated to the nation in the year at a total cost of Rs 2,897 crore.
The BRO has constructed 64 roads of 3,097 km in Arunachal Pradesh in the last five years, the government informed the Parliament on December 16.
