Incessant rains since early morning has thrown life out of gear in Guwahati. Heavy rains has led to water logging and flash floods in different parts of the city. Heavy traffic in the morning hours has also caused jams amid the water logging seen on some of the important roads in the city. Several areas like Hatigaon, Nabin Nagar, Bhangagarh, Last Gate and Zoo Road Narengi saw flash floods on the main roads leading to traffic jams.
Most people were seen stuck in the jams even as rains continued to pour down heavily for a better part of the morning.
Meanwhile, not just Guwahati but heavy rains have lashed through most parts of Assam. Incessant rains since early morning has caused flash flood at several points. On the other hand, a major landslide took place at Sonapur at the Guwahati-Silchar road. A chunk of a hillside fell off on the road blocking the road. With this, traffic got stuck on both sides of the road for a few hours before the debris could be cleared.
