With the restoration of the arterial Haflong-Lanka road, people solely dependent on this road have expressed a great sigh of relief and have appreciated the efforts made by the North Cachar Autonomous Hills Council to restore it with utmost urgency.
The Haflong-Lanka road is the life line for the people living in hundreds of villages of Hadingma, Gunjung, Dihangi, Hamri and Diyungbra constituencies of N C Hills Autonomous Council of Assam’s Dima Hasao district. During the period of floods and landslides this year, the road was badly damaged at several locations.
This year Dima Hasao has been at the receiving end of a heavy rainfall which triggered series of natural disasters in the region. Roads railway lines, roads, structures had received severe damage due to rainfall, landslide and mudslides.
