On the occasion of 72nd Republic Day, JCB Industries, a sanitary napkins manufacturer in Guwahati celebrated womanhood by distributing ‘Aadya’ sanitary pads in various locations of Guwahati.
The drive has been initiated under the brand’s ‘Zaroori Hai’ campaign that focuses on woman’s right to safe and hygienic periods.
Two teams carried out the drive across the city. One team distributed sanitary napkins to students of different colleges and institutes, while the other team distributed free pads to the residents of paying guest houses and hostels.
“We started the drive in the morning from Pandu area in Guwahati where we distributed almost 105 packets (each containing 6 pads). After that, we went to LCB College and distributed around 50 packets. We also visited Handique College and distributed the pads. We distributed a total of 2475 packets in 33 places in Guwahati,” said Dhruba Jyoti Sarma of JCB Industries.
“People hailed the initiative as it is a local product and manufactured in the state. We received positive response from the people,” added Sarma.
“A total of 2,475 packets of sanitary pads have been distributed. It will help promote health awareness across the youth,” said a student.
Earlier, JCB Aadya had launched various initiatives like Be Bold and Independent!; Go Fearless with Aadya; Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) Awareness Campaign; End The Menstruation Taboo; for menstrual hygiene among girls and women in the country.
The review meeting was attended by Chief Ministers of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Tripura.
