People living along the banks of the Dhansiri river in Assam’s Golaghat district staged a protest against the NEEPCO.

The protestors blocked the National Highway No 37 at Marangi and shouted slogans.

NEEPCO had recently again opened the sluice gate of the Doyang hydel power project in Nagaland’s Mon district, which resulted to flooding of several areas in Assam’s Golaghat district.

NEEPCO has been periodically releasing excess water of the Doyang dam without any prior notice into Assam causing floods.
