“I stand with my union and colleagues. In solidarity, we build a better tomorrow.” Priyanka said in her Instagram post

Bollywood actor Priyanka Chopra who has featured in several Hollywood productions, has joined the strike announced by the Screen Actors Guild and American Federation of Television and Radio Artists after the unions failed to reach a new labour agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers on July 14 night.

Taking to Instagram, Priyanka posted a picture showing her support for the movement. She wrote, “I stand with my union and colleagues. In solidarity, we build a better tomorrow.âä️🙏🏽 #SagAftraStrong #SagAftraStrike (sic).”

The strike has affected shooting for many upcoming shows and films.

Among other projects, Priyanka Chopra and John Cena’s ‘Heads of State‘shooting was also halted due to the strike in Hollywood.

The Bollywood actor has acted in several Hollywood movies and TV shows like Citadel, Quantico, Baywatch, The Matrix Resurrections and Project Runway.

The industry-wide shutdown follows a row about pay and the impact of artificial intelligence with film studios and streaming services, Al Jazeera reported.
The two unions failed to reach an agreement on a fairer split of profits and increased safeguarding around Artificial Intelligence (AI) rights.
The unions are concerned about contracts keeping up with inflation, residual payments in the streaming era and putting up guardrails against the use of AI mimicking their work on film and television shows.
This is the first time the two unions have been on strike simultaneously since 1960, when actor – and future US president – Ronald Reagan led the protests.
