President Ram Nath Kovind reaches Bangladesh for 50th Victory Day as Guest of Honour

President Ram Nath Kovind arrived at Dhaka for a three-day visit today. He will take part in the golden jubilee celebrations of Bangladesh’s independence from Pakistan in 1971. Noteworthy that
President Ram Nath Kovind arrived at Dhaka for a three-day visit today. He will take part in the golden jubilee celebrations of Bangladesh’s independence from Pakistan in 1971. Noteworthy that this is President Kovind’s 1st visit abroad since the onset of Covid-19. President Kovind is representing India in the celebrations as a guest of honour.

India is also observing a host of events marking the 50th anniversary of the 1971 Indo-Bangladesh war that led to the liberation of Bangladesh.
Although President Kovind’s visit is a “ceremonial” one all issues of bilateral ties were expected to be reviewed as part of his tour. This was informed by Bangladesh’s Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen, at a virtual press conference here on Tuesday.
