Pradyot Debbarma Slams Racial Discrimination: Tripura Royal Scion and Tipra Motha founder Pradyot Debbarma has strongly condemned racial discrimination against youths from the Northeast in Delhi. Debbarma shared a video on X showing a security guard arguing with a group of Northeast youths, some of whom were dressed in their traditional attire, at Lodhi Garden in Delhi.

In the video, the security guard can be seen arguing with the youths and objecting to them taking photos and videos. Shockingly, the guard also misbehaved with them, pushing one of the youths and trying to snatch a phone.

Debbarma, in a video message shared exclusively with Northeast Live, expressed his anger over the incident. He stated that youths from the Northeast face such discrimination in many major cities across the country.

“While everyone in that area was making videos and reels, the security guard specifically targeted those Northeast boys and girls and stopped them. The guard also spoke rudely to the women and assaulted the boys. Such incidents hurt us, and it is happening in other parts of the country too,” Debbarma said.

He called on political and civil society organisations to work towards changing the discriminatory attitude towards people from the Northeast.

Debbarma said, “We don’t give the same respect to our own people. A certain group of people thinks they are superior to others and discriminates based on colour and eating habits. India must realise that if it wants to be a superpower, it needs to empower the Northeast too. Stop discriminating against our people. Our boys and girls are educated and intelligent. We will fight back. This is not about politics; it happens under every government.”

Debbarma’s statement has sparked widespread discussion, with many voices from the Northeast backing his call for equal treatment and respect for the region’s people.
