Polling for the Vice Presidential Election 2022 is underway. The voting began from 10 am and will continue until 5 pm. The ballots will be counted immediately after the voting.

Results will be declared by today evening. The Secretary-General, Lok Sabha has been appointed as the Returning Officer for the election.

Meanwhile, PM Modi also casts his vote in the Vice Presidential polls earlier

Jagdeep Dhankhar is the vice-presidential candidate of the ruling National Democratic Alliance while the opposition, led by the Congress has chosen Margaret Alva as its candidate for the post.

The vice-president is elected by the members of the Electoral College consisting of the members of both Houses of Parliament in accordance with the system of proportional representation by means of the single transferable vote.

This year, for the 16th Vice-Presidential Election, the Electoral College consists of 245 Rajya Sabha members and 543 elected members of the Lok Sabha.
