A constable of the Assam Police fell prey to a gang of gamblers. Sensation prevails in Central Assam’s Nagaon District after a constable of Assam Police, identified as Anil Das, was shot dead by miscreants.

The incident took place when a team of Nagaon Police led by DSP Laba Kumar Deka raided a gambling den in the house of Samsher Ali.

Anil Das was immediately rushed to the Bhogeswari Phuka-nani Civil Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Samsher Ali has been allegedly carrying out anti-social activities in his house at Pukhuripar for quite some time.

An intensive investigation has been launched into the incident. Police have arrested one person in connection with the firing incident.
